ADJECTIVE

Kata clever, diligent, beautiful, delicious, rude, fine, large, tall, adalah kata sifat. Di dalam bahasa Inggris kata-kata tersebut disebut Adjective. Adjective menerangkan keadaan atau kualitas kata benda atau kata ganti.

Contoh :

                        The boy is rude ( Anak itu sombong )

                        He is rude ( Dia sombong )

Kata sifat dari contoh-contoh kalimat di atas adalah “rude” yang berarti “sombong”. Kata sifat “rude” menerangkan keadaan kata benda, yaitu “the boy” Kata sifat pada contoh kalimat kedua menerangkan kata ganti, yaitu “He”

Letak Adjective

1.  Sesudah to be (are, am, is, was, were ). Kata sifat yang letaknya sesudah to be disebut Predicative Adjective karena letaknya pada posisi predikat.

      Contoh :

                        The boy is rude (sombong)

                        He is rude

2.  Sebelum kata benda. Kata sifat yang letaknya sebelum kata benda disebut  Attributive Adjective.

      Contoh :

John is a rude boy ( John adalah seorang anak yang sombong)

He is a rude boy ( Dia adalah seorang anak yang sombong)

Contoh :
